Render

Feb 22, 2026    Pastor Matt Sidley

We’re launching a new series called STUCK, exploring the moments when Jesus was placed in impossible situations—and how He responded with wisdom, clarity, and truth.

In Matthew 22, Jesus is trapped between political extremes. A loaded question is meant to destroy Him: Should we pay taxes to Caesar? A “yes” would anger the people. A “no” would bring Roman consequences. Jesus is stuck.

Or is He?

Instead of playing their game, Jesus rewrites the scene:

“Render to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”

In a time of civil unrest, political division, and fear, what does that mean for us today? How should followers of Christ respond when tensions rise and conversations become heated?

This message challenges us to:

Live wisely in a divided culture

Honor governing authorities without compromising our faith

Speak truth without being trapped by extremes

Remember that while coins bear Caesar’s image, we bear God’s image

We belong to God first.

Join us as we begin this timely and challenging new series.
