Psalms of Summer 2026 – Sanctuary

When life becomes painful or overwhelming, where do we go for refuge?

We all have things we turn to for comfort—relationships, food, entertainment, substances, distractions, or simply ignoring what hurts. But the very things we look to for sanctuary can eventually become prisons when we ask them to provide what only God can give.

In this week of Psalms of Summer 2026, Psalm 96 reminds us that the Lord alone is worthy of our worship, attention, strength, and trust. Rather than running toward temporary fixes, God invites us into His sanctuary—to bring Him our pain, our struggles, and even the things that have taken His place in our lives.

God doesn't promise perfect circumstances, but He promises to be with us in them. Through Jesus, our hope rests not in our own faithfulness or failures, but in His faithfulness and victory.

This message invites us to consider what we run toward when life gets difficult, surrender our misplaced devotion, and discover the freedom, belonging, healing, and joy found in turning toward God.

The things we turn to for sanctuary can become prisons—but God's sanctuary leads us toward freedom.
